After a youthful foray into teaching sailing for a living, I embarked on a career in the pyrotechnic industry. Cutting my teeth working on the Royal Wedding display at Hyde Park in 1981, I progressed to MD of Pains Fireworks, setting up Pains LLC Dubai on the way and ensuring the safe delivery of some 400+ shows a year amongst the varying tasks

 

​These included traditional firework displays, stage, TV, film and arena effects. It also included overseeing the annual firework show aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in her last 10 years of household service.​

After 21 years I returned to the creative and hands-on side I love the most - designing, producing and delivering special effects and bespoke pyrotechnic shows, specialising in city centre roof top, stadia and the televised festival/concert/sports arena.
